World Cup Tableau no. 2

For those for whom tableau no. 1 was a bit 'lightweight' I bring you no. 2

Two men. Three screens. Two World Sport tournaments playing simultaneously. One woman going quietly insane.

World Cup Tableau no. 1

IMGP2192
Football on the tele. World Cup Wallchart on the wall. World Cup notebook with predictions, observations and 'phantom bets' on the table.

Here we have Kenny's life for June-July 2010. As a male friend told me recently "Kenny is living the dream".

We're backing the pub

IMGP2136

Much concern among the beer-drinking ranks about the forthcoming budget. With the health lobby being so powerful I think it's important to discuss whether all alcohol should be treated the same. In my view, it clearly shouldn't and there is already enough tax being levied on quality, local, tasty ales when political and economic attention would be better directed at supermarkets selling crappy intoxicants as loss-leaders. If you agree, or if you simply want to find out more, I recommend that you visit the 'I'm backing the pub' campaign and consider signing the petitions listed therein.

Here we are shown recently er, 'backing' our fave local brewery by going and drinking several of their beers and eating the BBQ they made for us. Really, the brewery is backing us, good sorts that they are. If you can find their ales in your local then consider yourself lucky 'cos they are run off their feet producing at the moment.

It has now not rained for two consecutive outdoor local CAMRA events. I think this might be some kind of record and to be honest, even though I would love the warm weather to continue, if it started raining tomorrow and rained every day till September I would still feel as though we had witnessed our best British summer for at least four years. Nice.

Join us

I have finally been given a place on Quilt Group (it's like a Ravelry for quilters and still at the beta stage). I feel very part of the (quilt)in-crowd. Ho ho.

I am the radish queen

Not much crafting to show you this month. Been tired and in some amount of joint pain and a little bit of gardening has been absorbing my attention. Check out my radishes:
IMGP2164
Fear not. I have not entered the absurd masculine world of competitive champion vegetable growing. However, I am exceedingly proud of the size of my radishes as I think this picture attests:
IMGP2154
This was a particularly large beaut of a radish and I chomped it down with glee and a side serving of self satisfaction.
IMGP2155
And behind me you see the rampant salad leaves. Growing far faster than one sickly woman and two football-addled Scotsmen can eat them, even aided by an army of slugs. Truly we are feasting well on the fruits of our labours. Not that the slugs put much effort in on the growing side. Greedy buggers.

Breast Cancer Care article for Knit Today

Please forward this blog post to anyone who you think may be able to help.

A friend of mine who is working for Breast Cancer Care (UK) has asked for my help with this issue.

Knit Today magazine are looking for knitting fans who have previously fundraised for Breast Cancer Care through their craft, to be included in an editorial feature. If this sounds like you, please contact Caroline Sargent at Breast Cancer Care with details of what you did, when and why on 020 7960 3532 / press.temp@breastcancercare.org.uk. Successful knitters will be contacted and may be asked to submit pics of their handiwork.

Also:

Cross Stitch Crazy magazine is interested in interviewing a cross stitch/sewing enthusiast who has personally experienced breast cancer, to tie in with a feature about Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. This can be done over the phone and might involve photography. Anyone willing to be featured should contact Caroline Sargent at Breast Cancer Care on 020 7960 3532 / press.temp@breastcancercare.org.uk

If you wish to find out more please do NOT contact me as I have no further details; please contact the persons listed above.

Thanks for your time.
